Frequently asked Questions
What is AAU?
The Amateur Athletic Union is a national organization dedicated to sports and physical fitness programs that has been the leader in amateur athletics for almost 100 years. Almost every NBA and WNBA player from this country played AAU basketball.
How does my child become a member of Team Evolution?
Tryouts will be announced in early January. There is no try-out fee. All participants are asked to pre-register. There will be at least 2-3 tryout sessions. Once your child is selected to a team, you will be asked to put down a deposit to secure their spot.
What is the commitment?
Practice is 2-3 times a week and tournaments are on the weekends. 3rd-6th grade teams will play in tournaments in the Tri-state area. 7th-11th grade teams will play some tournaments in the Tri-state area and also do Showcase and Live Events.
What does my registration fee include?
The registration fee cover, club insurance, gym rental, travel expense for coaches, tournament fees, uniforms, shooting shirts, and travel backpack. All of these items were factored into the fee to participate. If you are a returning player your fee does not include the cost of a gear(uniform, shooting shirt, travel backpack) unless you require new items. (Registration fee does not cover lodging)
What documentation is needed?
In order to be apart of Team Evolution, each participant must fill out an emergency contact form, image release form, submit a copy of their birth certificate and report card.
What can I do to offset the cost?
Being apart of an AAU team can sometimes become expensive. In order to offset some of the cost, Team Evolution staff plans various fundraisers, in which money earned is credited directly to the athlete. There is also a payment plan.
When are the games?
The games are normally on Saturday and Sunday, unless you are in a special tournament (eg. showcase or live period). Schedules for the individual tournaments are normally released by the host Wednesday evening before the tournament. As soon as schedules are released, the coaches will post.
Why don't I get any money back, if my child quits?
Registration Fees are based on the number of participants that are selected to each team.
